Transfer of print from paper to emulsion - medium format

Backing paper transfer (sometimes also referred to as ghosting) is a phenomenon that is difficult to translate unambiguously, in which the print from the protective paper of photographic film transfers onto the photosensitive emulsion. As a result, unwanted marks such as numbers, lines, text, or patterns from the paper that was supposed to protect the film become visible on the negative. It all begins innocently, with film that has been stored for too long or improperly secured.

Photo session in Racibórz – Sofiia in medium format

In the unassuming village of Samborowice, near Racibórz, time slows down, and the light tells its own stories. It was there, amidst an abandoned farm, that an intimate session with Sofiia took place, which was not only a meeting with a model but also with classic analog photography. In my hands, I held a Mamiya RB67 – a camera that knows no haste but allows one to see the ephemeral. The black-and-white film captured not just an image, but the mood of the place and the presence of the moment. Photographing in medium format, I sought the simplicity and focus that only analog can provide. This session was a prelude to something greater, yet a complete entity in itself. You can see its effects below.

Analog photography – a passion that has become UNESCO heritage.

With pride and emotion, I share the joy – classic analog photography, the passion of my life, has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage. For over five years, I have been running my own photo darkroom, developing my skills and exploring the history of this extraordinary field, which began with Niépce's first photograph, through collodion, to today's renaissance of film.
This is a beautiful moment for us – lovers of silver grains, the smell of fixer, and the magic of light.

Petzval Lens 58mm Review

After several years of use, I have managed to form an opinion about this lens. It's not for everyone – it sets a very high bar, demanding perfection and precision. However, if you manage to master it, it becomes one of the most interesting tools you can equip your camera with.

Fixed focal length lenses vs zoom lenses

I definitely often receive questions about choosing a camera and lens set for beginners. Some of my interlocutors are not even aware of the basic distinction between prime and zoom lenses. I will try to provide an answer that I would have liked to receive many years ago.

Reflex camera or Mirrorless?

The modern camera market shows a clear trend where large and heavy DSLRs are gradually being replaced by smaller but equally advanced mirrorless cameras. I wanted to share my understanding of this phenomenon and attempt a comparison that sparks a lot of emotions and polarizes some photographers: which is better – a DSLR or a mirrorless camera?

Instax or Polaroid?

A question I get so often that I decided to provide a written answer. There won't be any simple solutions because, as experts often say, "it depends." I'm not an expert, so I'll share my thoughts.

Foggy peaks of Odenwald

Germany, Baden-Württemberg. Autumn and a drone flight over the Odenwald. The privilege of flying allows one to explore entirely new perspectives. Sometimes what is already remarkable from the perspective of the ground becomes even more amazing when you have the opportunity to soar higher. Forest and fog are a wonderful combination - always.

Breakwaters of the Baltic

Wooden piles like totems standing over the water. Sometimes like gloomy hosts breaking angry waves, other times a serene haven for tired seagulls. As a child, I used to treat them as milestones - walking along the shore, I would count their rows and thus calculate the length of my journey.

Analog horror / fetish photos.

"Let it look like a freeze-frame from a bad dream where again there was no escape. For a split second before waking up with a cold sweat and a scream on your lips."
